Washington DC, November 29th, 2015- On November 22, over three thousand four hundred Nepalis living in the United State of America gathered in Washington DC at the Lafayette Square park and marched toward the Indian Embassy and peacefully protested against the undeclared Indian trade embargo against Nepal.
This was the largest rally ever conducted by Nepalis outside Nepal and it was supported by over two dozen Nepali organizations in America and individual community leaders.
The rally was primarily lead by Association of Nepalis in the America (ANA), Baltimore American Nepalese Association (BANA), Association of Nepalese in Midwest America (ANMA), Nepalese Association of Southeast Americas (NASEA), America Nepal Sahayogi Samaj and several individual community leaders from DC Beltway area and North Carolina.
On behalf of the organizing committee, I would like to thank and express my gratitude to Kiran (Ron) Sitoula Anup Pahari, Gopal Regmi, DJ Gorkhali, Bimal Nepal, Kul Mani Acharya, Sushil Sharma, Prem Sangraula, Ram Kharel, Bijay Shrestha and Suman Timsina, for their exemplary leadership in planning and successfully executing the rally.
The organizing committee also acknowledges specific contributions made at the various stages of the rally by Keshab Paudel, Shyam Karki, Padam Regmi, Shiva Bista, Dadi Dhungana, Shambhu Dhungana, Hari K. Sharma, Samikshya Acharya and Suresh Sapkota.
Finally, I would like to thank every individual and organizations that came and supported the historic rally.
