In order to develop bilateral relations in the field of art, as well as establishing personal contacts with the creative artists of Russia and Nepal, on April 28 the Russian artist Anna Tarasenko from Novocherkassk, Russia, in association with the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) and Nepal-Russia Arts club (NRAC) visited Universal College, Kathmandu.

Anna finds inspiration and themes for her paintings by traveling around the world, and a special place in her work is for Tibet, the Himalayas and Nepal. Her paintings – landscapes of places, the heroes and travelers, pilgrims, fairy-tale characters – drawn in unique style are already highlited by the Russian and French critics.

Universal College in Kathmandu has been active for 20 years and provides education in various fields from primary school to graduate, including bachelor. Two years ago the Faculty of Fine Arts was established, headed by the chairperson of NRAC, a renowned Nepalese artist Sushma Rajhbandari.

During the visit, a meeting was held with the leadership and teaching staff of the college, a workshop on arts was organized in the Faculty of Fine Arts with the participation of Russian artists and art students of the college. The main event was the meeting of Anna Tarasenko with teachers and students of creative disciplines. The Russian artist, told a little about herself and demonstrated her paintings with drawing technique, after which the students tried to follow her technique in the workshop.

Addressing the students, Anna stressed: "In the work of the artist the main thing is freedom. It should be around: in thinking, in perception, in art, in everything that makes you creative. Do not hesitate to border yourselves with the canons, and even if you will paint in the classical style, people will see a free artist in your work”.

This visit to Nepal by Anna Tarasenko has acquired useful contacts in the field of art, it is currently discussing the possibility of organizing a personal exhibition of Russian artists in the capital of Nepal.
