Jumla, Local people demanding undivided Mid-west Region in the new federal set-up continued their struggle in the district on the second consecutive day on Tuesday.
The market, educational institutions and government offices in Khalanga bazaar remained closed due to the strike.
Likewise, the agitators vandalised and torched the district party offices of the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML. Furniture and other materials were burnt, the District Administration Office (DAO) said.
The demonstrators also marched to the DAO and burnt tyres there. Police said that they had to open seven rounds of tear gas shells to disperse the protesters. The DAO said that a large number of security persons was mobilised to contain the situation.
